If you have ever seen a wildlife documentary, you might have noticed how wild animals attack one another. Many of these wild animals have brutal strength that helps them survive and keep predators away.
Have you ever wondered what some of the world’s strongest animals are? Just how much can they lift or carry? Our wildlife conservation and zoo biology team are here to share some of the world’s strongest animals.
When it comes to the bears in the animal kingdom, the grizzly bear is one of the world’s strongest. Do not let a grizzly bear’s fur fool you; it is five times stronger than a human. This bear stands between 3.3 to 9 feet tall.
It can weigh up to 1,000 pounds. They have very muscular bodies and can lift up to 700 pounds with just one paw. Their bite is also something to be feared because their bite force is over 1,200 per square inch.
Gorillas are very large apes that live in Africa. These animals either live in the mountainous regions of central Africa or the lowland forests of west and central Africa. If you have ever gotten the chance to see a gorilla at your local zoo, you will notice how large it is.
Gorillas can weigh up to 440 pounds, and when standing on their two legs, they can be as tall as six feet. Their strength is not to be underestimated because they can lift and throw up 814 kgs (1,796.7 pounds). Although gorillas are herbivores, these animals pack a nasty bite. Their bites can cover about 1,300 pounds per square inch.
Although tigers are part of the cat species, this is one kind of cat you do not want to come across within the wild. Tigers are beautiful but fierce animals that are native to Asia. These animals are considered the largest out of the cat species.
Adult tigers can get as long as 10 feet long and weigh up to 660 pounds. Just how strong are tigers? Well, wildlife conservation and zoo biology research shows that tigers can carry twice their own weight up a tree. Aside from their strength, these animals are also very fast, making them deadly predators.
Not all strong animals spend most of their time on land. One of them, in particular, soars the skies and that animal is the eagle. These birds are native to North America, and they tend to live by large lakes and rivers.
Eagles are considered to be powerful birds. They can weigh 14 pounds and have a wingspan of eight feet. Its strength is in its grip. An adult eagle has a grip that is ten times stronger than a human.
It would not be a list without the world’s strongest land mammal. To be exact, the African savanna elephant is considered to be the largest out of the elephants. An African savanna elephant can weigh up to four to seven tons and reach a height of 10 to 13 feet.
Their size aids them in being considered one of the world’s strongest mammals. An elephant can carry up to 14,000 pounds which is seven tons. What helps an elephant carry so much weight is its trunk. The trunk of an elephant has more than 150,000 muscles.
